About us
Maidenhead & District Stroke Club is run entirely by volunteers, funded through our own efforts & grants and has helped thousands of stroke survivors in Maidenhead over the last 30 years, providing them a social space to re-establish themselves in the community and meet with others who have survived stroke.
We are often the first port of call for stroke survivors after the NHS discharges them home - we've helped members walk, talk, communicate and gain re-use of abilities they thought they had lost, and of course, have a good chat with their friends!
We welcome anyone from the area who can get to our meetings but desperately need funds for rent and running expenses, therapies and social events.
So many corporations and councils demand that their donations go to "specific projects" so that they can boast about it on their websites - we are at the point where 'projects' are a luxury - we just need money to keep providing the basics these days!
We need your help so we can continue to offer a necessary service to people in our local area. We have members in their 40s through to 90s - stroke can hit anyone at any time, and we want to be able to continue into a 4th decade of helping.
We are also on the lookout for volunteers - whether thats helping at our Friday morning meetings, or if you can't come to our meetings, things you can do when you have spare time like helping maintain a local presence (posters and leaflets in community spaces)
Finally - if you know anyone who has had a stroke who you think would benefit from joining our group - please do get in touch! Details below.
Thank you for your support and good luck!
Yours sincerely,
Neil Symons
